Abstract

This study investigates effective strategies for memorizing Arabic nouns among students at Pondok Pesantren Darullughah Wadda’wah. Employing a qualitative descriptive design over a three-month period, the research involved 60 learners who engaged with Kitab Asma’ by Abuya Hasan Baharun as the primary learning material. Data were collected through classroom observations, semi-structured interviews, and reflective notes, and analyzed using thematic descriptive analysis. The findings reveal that learners tended to memorize nouns more effectively when they were associated with familiar contexts such as food, school, household items, and hobbies. Moreover, linking nouns with adjectives, verbs, and synonyms proved to enhance recall by creating meaningful lexical networks. These results suggest that successful noun memorization relies on contextualization, personalization, and systematic association rather than rote repetition alone. The study contributes to Arabic language pedagogy by emphasizing the need for learner-centered and experience-based approaches to vocabulary acquisition.
